Spotlight Series: What is a Sole Source Procurement and How to Request One

Most sponsored projects require purchasing something outside of the University. It could be services, supplies or equipment. Many of these purchases can be made using a P-card. Those that can’t, must be procured by submitting a Requisition to Procurement and Strategic Sourcing.  PSS uses different methods to procure goods or services based on a number of factors.  When competition is available, purchases require Procurement to solicit bids using competitive processes such as RFQs, IFBs or RFPs.  If there is no competition available, then the purchase can be made on a sole/single source basis.

What is a sole source procurement? What is a single source procurement?  Why is this an option for the purchase of goods or services?  When should a purchase be made using a sole/single source?  What if the goods or services are listed in the grant or contract?  This one-hour discussion will focus specifically on the rules and processes involved in purchasing goods or services on a sole/single source basis.

There is no cost to attend. Please RSVP online at http://ter.ps/orarsvp (you will be asked to login using your University credentials)
